HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE MOSS (38)

Kate Moss photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggiott for LOVE

What can one say about Kate Moss? Widely regarded as one of the greatest supermodels of all time… effortlessly fashionable and endlessly fascinating… trendsetting and news making. Now in her late thirties, the IMG model, style icon, mother and wife continues to excite and entice, consistently appearing on the covers and inside pages of every major fashion magazine (Vogue, Vogue Paris, Dazed & Confused, i-D, LOVE), starring in ad campaigns for top designers season after season (David Yurman, YSL), and inspiring artists to create works in her likeness.

Moss burst onto the fashion scene in the early 1990′s, challenged and changed the very definition of what it means to be a model and dominated the fashion world. Over the years, she has transformed herself from ingenue and muse to business woman and mogul, continuously branding her image, from launching her own clothing line (Topshop), designing jewelry (Fred) and handbags collections (Longchamp), creating signature fragrances and cosmetics (Dior), to singing and acting. There is nothing Moss hasn’t done and done well, and there is no sign her slowing down anytime soon. Long live Kate.

The Spring/Summer 2012 campaign for Dolce & Gabbana is a family affair, starring actress Monica Bellucci alongside models Bianca Balti (IMG) and Simone Nobili (Independent). Inspired by classic Italian cinema, Monica and Bianca play the matriarchs of a large traditional Italian family spanning generations. Captured by Giampaolo Sgura in Southern Italy, the candid portraits depict “afternoons at the beach, Sundays at home, family parties, the first boyfriend, and tender moments with the children.”

Who’s That Girl? : V Magazine pays tribute to Madonna in their Music Issue, casting Sky Ferreira (IMG) to star as the Material Girl, circa 1980′s in an electric photo shoot by Mario Testino. The breakthrough singer-songwriter-model is styled by Andrew Richardson in glittering bustiers, fingerless gloves and religious iconography, including designs by Proenza Schouler, Ralph Lauren, Mulberry and Chanel. Sky shares her thoughts on the reigning Queen of Pop:

“Madonna inspires me to be strong, fearless, and smart. She’s more than just sexy, or someone with good songs, she’s the type of woman I want to be. I want to inspire people the way she has.”
