Who’s That Girl? : V Magazine pays tribute to Madonna in their Music Issue, casting Sky Ferreira (IMG) to star as the Material Girl, circa 1980′s in an electric photo shoot by Mario Testino. The breakthrough singer-songwriter-model is styled by Andrew Richardson in glittering bustiers, fingerless gloves and religious iconography, including designs by Proenza Schouler, Ralph Lauren, Mulberry and Chanel. Sky shares her thoughts on the reigning Queen of Pop:

“Madonna inspires me to be strong, fearless, and smart. She’s more than just sexy, or someone with good songs, she’s the type of woman I want to be. I want to inspire people the way she has.”

Sienna Rose Miller (born December 28, 1981) is a British-American actress, model, and fashion designer, best known for her roles in Layer Cake, Alfie, Factory Girl, The Edge of Love and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. In 2007, the London Film Critics named her British Actress of the Year for Interview. In 2006, she designed a fashion capsule for Pepe Jeans, and has been heralded by Vogue and numerous other fashion magazine as a style icon.

Carla Bruni-Sarkozy (born Carla Gilberta Bruni Tedeschi; 23 December 1967) is an Italian-French songwriter, singer, actress, and former Supermodel. She has been married to Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of the French Republic, since February 2008; the couple have a daughter.

Bruni signed with City Models at age 19. Paul Marciano, president and creative director of Guess? Inc., came across her picture among composite cards of aspiring models and chose her to model with Estelle Lefébure in campaigns for Guess? jeans. Bruni subsequently worked for designers and fashion houses such as Christian Dior,Givenchy, Paco Rabanne, Sonia Rykiel, Christian Lacroix, Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, Yves Saint-Laurent, Shiatzy Chen, Chanel and Versace. By the 1990s, Bruni was among the 20 highest-paid fashion models, earning $7.5 million a year.

In 1997, Bruni quit the world of fashion to devote herself to music. She sent her lyrics to Julien Clerc in 1999, based on which he composed six tracks on his 2000 album Si j’étais elle.

In 2002, her debut album Quelqu’un m’a dit, produced by Louis Bertignac, was released in Europe with success in Francophonecountries. Three songs from the album appear in Hans Canosa’s 2005 American film Conversations with Other Women, the song Le Plus Beau du quartier was used in H&M’s Christmas 2006 commercial, and the title track was featured in the 2003 movie Le Divorce and in the 2009 movie (500) Days of Summer. In January 2010, her song “L’amoureuse” was featured in an episode of NBC’s Chuck, “Chuck vs. First Class”.

In 2005, she wrote the lyrics for ten out of twelve songs for Louis Bertignac’s new album Longtemps, and performed two duets with him on the album, Les Frôleuses and Sans toi. In 2006, Bruni recorded “Those Little Things”, an English-language translation of the Serge Gainsbourg song “Ces petits riens” for the tribute album Monsieur Gainsbourg Revisited. She took part in the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in a parade paying tribute to the Italian flag.

Vanessa Chantal Paradis (born December 22, 1972) is a French singer, model and actress. She became a child star at 14 with the worldwide success of her single “Joe le taxi”. Since then, she has accomplished a career in music, movies and modelling.

Since 1998, Paradis has been in a relationship with American actor Johnny Depp. They have a daughter, Lily-Rose Melody Depp (born May 27, 1999), and a son, John Christopher “Jack” Depp III (born April 9, 2002).

In 2000, Paradis released her album Bliss which was dedicated to Depp and their daughter.

Ian Joseph Somerhalder (born December 8, 1978) is an American model, actor and producer, best known for playing Boone Carlyle in the TV drama Lost and Damon Salvatore in the TV drama The Vampire Diaries.

In the summer of 2000, Somerhalder starred in the short-lived WB series Young Americans, a spin-off of Dawson’s Creek. He played Hamilton Fleming, the son of the dean of a prestigious boarding school. In 2002, Somerhalder played gaycharacter Paul Denton in Roger Avary’s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel, The Rules of Attraction, alongside James Van Der Beek, Shannyn Sossamon, and Jessica Biel.

In 2004, Somerhalder scored his breakthrough role when he played Boone Carlyle in the hit TV show Lost. Despite his character’s death in the twentieth episode of the first season, Somerhalder returned to the role of Boone for seven more episodes, between 2005 and 2010, including the series finale.

In May 2006, Somerhalder was named one of DNA Models’ Top 10 Male Models.

In September 2009, Somerhalder appeared in the movie The Tournament where he played the role of an assassin participating in a lethal competition with other assassins. On 10 October 2009, it was announced that he will star in the Gothic movie Cradlewood, which is to be directed by Harry Weinmann. The movie is set to be released in 2013.

Somerhalder currently stars in the CW television drama The Vampire Diaries as Damon Salvatore.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHALOM HARLOW (38)

Shalom Harlow (born December 5, 1973) is a Canadian model and actress. She was born in Oshawa, Ontario, the daughter of Sandi Herbert and David Harlow. Though her mother named her Shalom (שלום), meaning “peace” in Hebrew, her family is not Jewish. She was discovered at a Cure concert in Toronto and started modeling straight out of high school. She has since appeared on numerous magazine covers, editorials, and top runway shows, and appeared in movies and co-hosted MTV’s House of Style with fellow supermodel Amber Valletta. She was the long-time favorite model for many designers who found that her look translated well between commercial and couture. She is the first ever winner of Vogue/VH1′s Model of the Year Award.

Chloë Stevens Sevigny (born November 18, 1974) is an American film actress, fashion designer and former model. Sevigny gained reputation for her eclectic fashion sense and developed a broad career in the fashion industry in the mid 1990s, both for modeling and for her work at New York’s Sassy magazine, which labeled her the new “it girl” at the time, garnering her attention within New York’s fashion scene.

Sevigny made her film debut with a leading role in the highly controversial film Kids (1995), written by Harmony Korine, which led to an Independent Spirit Award nomination for her performance. A long line of roles in generally well received independent and often avant-garde films throughout the decade established Sevigny’s reputation as an indie film queen. It was not until 1999 that Sevigny gained serious critical and commercial recognition for her first mainstream role in the critically lauded Boys Don’t Cry, for which she received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress.

Sevigny has continued acting in mostly independent art house films, such as American Psycho (2000), Party Monster (2003), The Brown Bunny (2003) and Dogville (2003). In 2006, Sevigny gained a leading role in the HBO television series Big Love, for which she received a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in 2010. Additionally, Sevigny has two Off-Broadway theatre credits, and has starred in several music videos. She has also designed several wardrobe collections, most recently with Manhattan’s Opening Ceremony boutique.
